Thanking him for the copies of the Transactions of the Wordsworth Society; mentioning, in particular, the letters from Wordsworth to Landor on the relationship between Poetry and Religion; regretting that Knight's publisher did not take up his offer [to publish De Vere's collection of three essays on Wordsworth]; , mentioning sonnets he wrote on Wordsworth and promising to send them, and discussing these and other poems; included with this letter are notes by De Vere on the following poems: "On the Power of Sound," "The Triad," "The Wishing Gate," "To a Skylark," and "Scorn Not the Sonnet."
