Summary
Returning a proof and commenting on the letter of "my dear friend" Sara Coleridge; saying it "...is most interesting & full of beautiful passages; but of course I cannot at all agree in her estimate of Wordsworth's later Poems. When I return to Ireland, a couple of months hence, I believe I could send you a letter of mine putting forward, at length, my reasons for the opinion briefly affirmed in the passage you quote from my letter to you, & which you are quite welcome to publish;" adding, in a postscript, that he thinks it likely that an account of St. Giles should be found in Butler's Lives of the Saints. I fear I cannot throw any light on the other passages in the Excursion you refer to. Perhaps if you wrote to my friend Professor Dowden, a great Wordsworthian...mentioning my name, he could tell you something on the subject;" hoping that Mr. Reeve with publish a review of Knight's edition of Wordsworth when it is completed.
