Summary
Saying he wrote him a letter earlier in the day (see MA 9787.54) but because he did not have Knight's letter in front of him it is possible he addressed it to the London University and not to the Royal Society; adding "But perhaps I had better say that I could not interfere in the St. John's College matter for reasons which I gave - as to the other I am quite ready to give you an introduction to the Attorney General, but if Lord Bute would ask for an interview he would get it at once as a matter of course."
