Apologizing it has taken him so long to send his contribution to the memorial Knight is writing of Principal Shairp; saying "I am quite ashamed to have kept you waiting so long & now to send a thing so little worth waiting for - It is wanting in individuality & I have not said half the particular things I wanted to say - But I have been frightfully busy & sad as it is pray make what use you like of it - Send me a proof if you use it as there are several small additions & alterations I should like to make."
