Summary
Thanking him for sending him the letter from Mrs. Sellar in which she wrote of him "with such warmth. I do not wonder you were driven out of London. The weather ha become indescribable. I hope you won't risk anymore than is quite unavoidable in travelling to & fro. A little later I shall look out for you at the Athenæum & hope you may be then quite restored. I have just returned from the meeting of the Liberal Unionist Council. The members are some 120 in all; of these about 100 were present, & only two dissentients from the resolution in favour of maintaining the organisation as an active force. Chamberlain spoke with perfect tact & good taste & said nothing that c'd jar on any friend of the Dukes."
