Summary
Regretting that due to a prior engagement he cannot accept his invitation to attend Balfour's address at St. Andrews; adding "Balfour deserves the best reception that Scotland can give him. He has done splendidly. I wonder that the burlesque of martyrdom that is being enacted in Ireland is not laughed off the stage. Irish rebellion generally has its grotesque side;" expressing his hope that he and Mrs. Knight will visit after Christmas.
