Summary
Saying that a letter acknowledging Knight's gift, signed by all the Trustees of Dove Cottage, must have been sent to his address in Ithaca, New York; adding that he has asked George Craik to communicate with Knight about the letter's whereabouts; clarifying the current location of the books and prints that Knight had offered to Dove Cottage: "I sent you back to St. Andrews all the portraits, engravings etc. etc. made up in two parcels, one for framing. the other for an album. As well as I remember you transferred the books from Bain to some man in Vigo St. who, you said, would value them & keep them till wanted"; mentioning that he is glad that Knight has returned safely: "When I hear that you have travelled all those miles I thank God I did not go to America."
