Summary
Explaining that he has only just received Knight's letter on his return to London; thanking the Students' Representative Council for an invitation to speak, but saying that he must decline: "I cannot get down so far at this time of the year; and I have been so long away that I cannot leave the congregation or I shall get into a row. Ask them to pardon & excuse me"; asking after other projects of mutual interest underway: "What other Wordsworth work is doing. I see [Herbert] Rix is going to edit the Duddon Sonnets."
