Summary
Discussing lectures Ainger had given recently in Edinburgh, Glasgow, and at Marischal College in Aberdeen; saying that it would have been "a great pleasure to see you & Mrs. Knight again in your own home" ; mentioning seeing Heard, a mutual friend, in Edinburgh and dining together "one evening with the Miss Stevensons in Randolph Crescent, with whom I was staying"; saying that he is going "on Friday to Clifton for my three months Residence as Canon--but I hope you will be in London in the Spring, & that you will interrupt me if you see me at the Athenaeum"; writing that he hopes Knight's son is now in better health, "I fear he has had more than one break-down since I last saw him"; sending "every good wish for the New Year, always, my dear Knight."
