Housed with an autograph letter signed from Sir Stapleton Cotton Combermere to an unidentified recipient. The place of writing is not identified, the letter is undated and written on pink mourning stationery with his monogram engraved at the top of the first page. The letter expresses his pleasure "...in giving my Votes for your Protegée. I hope my "[illegible] paper will not be forgotten - but there are all sorts of schemes practised at these Elections - to favor the Graying(?) Candidates."
