Response, in the form of a series of cartoons, to a request for his autograph, starting with a cartoon of himself tossing a letter into a trashcan, captioned "Mr. Wells never gives autographs", followed by another, showing him seated and surrounded by publications and reading a volume labeled "Rita", with caption "He is too busy!", with a third sketch of himself reading a letter, captioned "But when you ask him in the name of Rita--", and concluding with a sketch of himself seated and writing his signature with a quill pen.
