Summary
Saying that he received a note from the recipient too late to be able to go hear what no one will be allowed to hear as long as he (the recipient) continues to be blamed for something not mentioned. Vigny was looking forward to seeing the recipient's new work in its polished form. He goes on to say that he hopes that the work will not remain “excommunicated” forever and that, when he and the recipient meet at the Académie Française, the latter will confess some of his new sins. Vigny says they are venial sins and offers the recipient general absolution.
