Summary
Ruskin says that if he came today he would lay himself up tomorrow, because he's threatened by a cold. He hopes to stay in and come not much the worse tomorrow, to his sorrow, for he wanted to choose a nice book for Boo [the Simons' adopted daughter]. He asks them to ask Boo if she would like the one that he sent. Ruskin likes the pictures in it. Or if she would like a "grown-up" book? Or a story book? She may choose proudly, because he has several little people not so tall as her who will like the book if she doesn't.
