Summary
Giving him permission to use his name; saying "If my poor name will do you any good you are quite welcome to it. We live in distrusted times. To you has fallen 'the burden and heat of the day'. The Keblites who till now have cursed us all are coming in now at the end of it to claim their share of the way...The poor devils who cut the first road through the brambles only get their hands & face scratched[.] The others who have stood by and cheered them are always those who afterwards are put in charge of it. But alas the [illegible] recedes as we advance. There is no such thing as an arrival. The poor old Church is rotten all through. Truth & his [illegible] are so much bound up together that she will bleed to death before they can ever be separated."
