Summary
Sending a duplicate of a letter he sent to Bristow on Bristow's insistence; saying that "his reason is on account of the advice I give for coming to terms there with H.[Hastings] & B.[Barwell] provided it can be done with honor to yourself, and without prejudice to the public service;" adding that "Bristow gives you the particulars of what passed in regard to Charles Fox, I must beg as a favor that you woud conceal that from every body whatever, because it was told me in confidence, and I woud not on any account have the story, much less the particulars of it come round, which it woud infallibly do if it got to almost any of the people about You, therefore I trust it will get to none of them."
