Collection includes the following items: 20 letters signed from Edward Augustus, Duke of Kent, to Frederick Augustus Wetherall, in which he discusses the administration of the army in British North America, his life in Gibraltar, his efforts to restore discipline to the mutinous garrison there, and his attempts to clear his name upon his return to England (MA 2909.1-11, 13-17, 19, 21-24); letters to the Duke of Kent, from Abraham Cunard (MA 2909.12), Lionel Smith (MA 2909.18), and William Henry Clinton (MA 2909.20); letters to Frederick Augustus Wetherall from Sir Frederick Watson (MA 2909.25), an unidentified writer who seems to be part of the Duke of Kent's inner circle (MA 2909.27-30), and Henry Karslake (MA 2909.32); a copy of the Duke of Kent's will (MA 2909.33); the Duke of Kent's memoranda for Wetherall while he was supervising him in Halifax (MA 2909.34); minutes from a meeting about the Duke of Kent's will (MA 2909.35); Wetherall's narrative of the Duke of Kent's final illness and death (MA 2909.36) and notes for said narrative (MA 2909.37); a copy of the code established by the Duke of Kent for his troops in Halifax (MA 2909.38); and an account for erecting fortifications in Nova Scotia signed by Prince Edward (MA 2909.39).
