Notes
The wrappers of the St. Paul's Exercise Books have been retained with the manuscript, which was formerly bound in three volumes (MA 120-122) of blue leather with elaborate gold-tooled border and gilt vignette on upper cover depicting Trilby in Bohemian garb, based on Du Maurier's drawing, by Riviere & Son. The drawings are bound in four larger volumes (MA 123-126), also of blue leather with elaborate gold-tooled border and gilt vignette on upper cover depicting Trilby in Bohemian garb, based on Du Maurier's drawing, by Riviere & Son.
Summary
Manuscript was written in a series of St. Paul's Exercise Books, partially in the autograph of Du Maurier's wife, two sons and three daughters (see MA 120.1), on the rectos and some versos of ca. 740 p., with revisions and notes in Du Maurier's hand.
