Captain Daniel Roberts (d. 1858 or later) was a naval officer who built at Genoa Lord Byron's boat the Bolivar and Shelley's boat the Don Juan.

This copy is in the hand of Capt. Daniel Roberts. On the verso of the letter, he has penned this note: "Copy of the last letter written by Percy Bysshe Shelley addressed to Mrs. Williams at Villa Magni nr Spezia dated the 4 July 1822, and he was drowned the 6th of the same month. Copied from the original. DR."
