Summary
Collection contains 64 autograph letters and 2 telegrams from Edith Sitwell to art historian Kenneth Clark; 123 autograph letters and 1 telegram from Sitwell to Jane Clark; and 1 telegram jointly to Jane and Kenneth Clark. Collection also includes 1 letter from Sitwell's brother Osbert to Jane Clark, 2 letters from Osbert's partner David Horner (one to each Jane and Kenneth Clark); and 1 typed letter from Sitwell's secretary H. Mary Fraser to Kenneth Clark. Letters are on various social and literary matters, with comments on many contemporaries, including Marilyn Monroe, Tennessee Williams, Carson McCullers, Beryl De Zoete, and Bryher, and with particular reference to Dylan Thomas and Pavel Tchelitchew. Several letters discuss her poetry and attempts to write or enclose poems (see MA 3847).
