Summary
Expressing his "surprize" at the impending marriage of Law and his step-granddaughter, Elizabeth Parke Custis; extending his approbation of the union; adding that he hopes, "as the young lady is in her non-age, that preliminary measures has been, or will be arranged with her Mother and Guardian, before the nuptials are solemnized"; also hoping that his "fortunes ... will, by this event, be fixed in America; for it would be a heart rending circumstance, if [he] should separate Eliza from her friends in this country"; inviting them to stay with him if they come to Philadelphia.
