Accordingly to W.S. Lewis, the MS was sold at Sotheby's 18 Dec. 1891, bound in a volume of MSS labeled 'Junius Controversy,' to Pearson; sold by Pearson to Pierpont Morgan in 1892; removed from the volume in 1925.
Part of a collection of the correspondence of Horace Walpole to various recipients including Henry Seymour Conway, Benjamin Ibbot and Horace Mann and with a small number of miscellaneous writings and copies of the writings of others. There are sentences in the letter that have been heavily crossed through and are unreadable, however, the complete text is found in W.S. Lewis, v. 31, p. 219-223.
