Acknowledging receipt of a letter that Desfourneaux had sent to his predecessor, General Charles Leclerc; saying that he is not surprised that Desfourneaux was well received by the First Consul and complimenting him on his military success in Gonaïves; adding that his military skills were missed in the operations against Spain and that General Leclerc was the first to have convincing proofs of this before his death.
