Volume 22 (MA 1279) of a 33-volume collection of the correspondence of Sir James Pulteney, his family and distinguished contemporaries "the larger portion having reference to the Duke of York's Expedition to the low Countries and to the Threatened Invasion of England by Napoleon" (MA 487, MA 297 and MA 1260-1290). The arrangement of the collection is alphabetical by the author.

Conveying commands to the Duke of York from the King and discussing military and political strategies and objectives relating to the Battle of Famars (May 23, 1793), the Siege of Valenciennes (June 13-July 28, 1793) and the Siege of Dunkirk (24 August-September 8, 1793; discussing the importance of the security of the Netherlands "as a barrier to the Ambition of France and a frontier to the United Provinces" (MA 1279.3); congratulating the Duke of York on the success at Famars (MA 1279.18); expressing concern for the proposed plan of attack on Valenciennes (MA 1279.20 and MA 1279.21); congratulating the Duke of York on the success at Valenciennes and encouraging immediate attention to Dunkirk (MA 1279.30); discussing preparations for the Siege at Dunkirk with respect to additional troops, coordination of assistance from the Royal Navy and transport of troops, supplies and munitions (MA 1279.32-37); discussing the resistance of the enemy and expressing his hope that the Prince of Coburg will assist in halting the progress of the enemy (MA 1279.40).
