Commenting on recent political publications which he believes serve no purpose other than to aid the enemy; saying he continues to preach his "old Doctrine of an union of Parties...Ideas which (entre nous) were that Peace might have been preserved had any Party espoused its cause. But truly what was every Party's Business in this grand affair proved in the End to be no Party's : Few knew how it was got, and all Parties will have to pay in [illegible] and Person before all is regained. Still I wish to avoid all Retrospect; and we shall gain an Inestimable Peace when we are more of a military nation & upon the Extended Pevensey Legion Plan."
