Includes an explanatory note by Cockerell: "This refers to the head of Christ in Rosetti's drawing "Mary Magdalen at the door of Simon the Pharisee" in the Fitzwilliam museum. It was mistakenly asserted that George Meredith sat for it. The actual sitter was Burne-Jones. Philip Webb told me he saw him sitting for it."--Sydney Cockerell 29 Jan. 1948.
