Urging that Mr. Baillie's son, whose first name he does not know, be given an ensigncy immediately; explaining "It is most essential in order to counteract a Plot which I know is going on in a Northern district of [Burghs?] at next Michaelmas when the Magistrates are chosen;" promising to write back as soon as he learns the son's name.
