Summary
Enclosing an extract from a letter he received from Mr. H. Vansittart, dated Lucknow, 9 May 1780; the extract refers to the dispute with the Governor-General [Warren Hastings] saying "I do not know to what Length the Dispute between the Governor and Sir Eyre [Coote] will be carried, but wish to effect an amicable Relinquishment of my present Office, before personal Contention begins."
