Summary
Defending his right to a Monday night benefit; saying "It has been whispered to me in the Theatre, that I am this year to be deprived of the Monday night for my Benefit; an advantage I have enjoyed for 3 seasons. As I do not chuse to put faith in a mere report, I wish (in time) to ascertain the fact from you, and to remind you how material a Monday Ev'g is to me. The reasons I have on former occasions explained to you. I hope as I have already been deprived of some advantages as to business, and certainly labored as hard in the theatre as any performer; that I shall be allowed what I have from usage looked to almost as a right. It is, independent of its allowed advantages, a point of considerable consequence to me. Taking every thing into consideration I hope yourself and Proprietors will allow the justice of my claim."
