Notes
Written from the Adelphi Theatre which Mathews managed from the spring of 1828 when he purchased a half-share until he accepted an offer to perform in America in the spring of 1834. Mathews did not return to England until March 1835, a few months before his death in June.

Summary
Saying that his name remains on the free list of the theatre despite the fact that "...after your paper ceased the card of admission ceased with it;" adding "Our Theatre is so small that we cannot be as liberal as we could wish to as to Freedoms - Therefore we can only make it an admission for yourself - but we shall be always glad to see you."
