Collection consists of 22 letters from Sir Walter Scott to his brother- and sister-in-law Charles and Isabella Carpenter; letters from Sir Walter's children Sophia Lockhart (5) and Charles Scott (4) to their aunt Isabella; and 2 letters from Lady Scott to her brother Charles. Anne Scott has added autograph notes to her father Sir Walter's letter of 27 November 1828 and to her sister Sophia's of 6 April 1823, both to Mrs. Carpenter. The letters of Sophia Lockhart and Charles Scott to their aunt Isabella concern primarily Sir Walter's final illness and death.
