Summary
Concerning the issuance of rum; saying "As the Rum furnish'd to this Department is likely Soon to be exhausted : and Claims are made as I am inform'd for the Payment of back allowances of that article : on pretence of assurance rec'd that they Should be paid. You are hereby directed Not to issue any Rum for past allowances without Special Order therefor from the Commanding Officer of this Department and that you do not issue more of that article to Officers on Duty than to Privates, & to none untill you are certified the Persons for whom the Drafts are made are on Duty upon the Day for which the Draft is made and those employ'd by the Day are not to be Supplied with Provisions or Rum when off Duty."
