Notes
Chalmers gives the place of writing as "Office for Trade, Whitehall." He was employed as chief clerk to the Board of Trade from 1786 until his death.
Perry was the owner and editor of the Morning Chronicle.

Summary
Enclosing an advertisement (no longer with the letter) for his life of Mary, Queen of Scots, "which I wish, to be six times inserted, in the Morning Chronicle, twice a week, every Tuesday, and Friday"; appealing to Perry as a "true born Scotsman" to comply with his request "in Such a manner, as to be most Efficacious to the End"; asking him to send the bill once he has run the advertisement.
