Congratulating him on the capture of the "Hero of Britain & his Army" [Lord Cornwallis]; describing a service held in honor of the victory, including a reinterpretation by [George] Duffield of a psalm by [Isaac] Watts to make it against Britain instead of for her; telling him of the rejoicing in the city; reporting that the mob attacked the homes of a "few Quakers" who were not celebrating; praising Greene's virtues; asking him to write to [Thomas] McKean and other members of Congress on his behalf to help him secure a position in the War Office or the Pennsylvania legislature; hoping for revenge for the death of [Isaac] Hayne at the hands of his British captors.
