Thanking him for his recent letters; complimenting him on his contributions to the Administration in Bengal and expressing his wish "to see you in the Chair, and shall on all Occasions promote measures to advance you to that honourable Station;" saying that he hopes that the charter for the East India Company will be extended; relating the current shipment of additional troops to India to "enable the English to take pondicherry [sic] and entirely drive the French from India;"discussing specific proceedings of the Council; adding, in a postscript, intelligence news on the Mharatta Government and the situation with the French forces.
