Summary
Thanking Murray for helping the young "Captain Shutt", and conveying the captain's father's thanks as well: "To your goodness the future happiness of his deserving son is owing"; saying that he has not received the honey that Murray sent, but that the man who was to bring it has died of "an Unexpected Decay"; mentioning that their correspondence has been interrupted, and "at present I see no prospect of its becoming more certain by a Peace" (possibly a reference to the war with Spain, as Murray was then Governor of Minorca); speaking highly of Sir William Draper (who had been appointed lieutenant-governor of Minorca); discussing an attack of gout, and his health in general: "I am as well in body and mind as a man of my age can be. Every day seems too short, tho' I have no publick business; and therefore I have never repented my retirement, not even for a moment."
