Summary
Sending condolences from herself and her sister Agnes on the death of Miss Gamble's "dear & amiable Aunt": "for she was always kind & courteous to us, and there was an engaging sweetness in her courtesy that made it pleasant to feel we were obliged to her"; saying that "Mrs. Baillie" (which could be either Joanna's mother, Dorothea Hunter Baillie, or her sister-in-law, Sophia Denman Baillie) will call on Miss Gamble and Mr. Dunlop today, and that they will also get news of them from "some of Dr. Boott's family", so Miss Gamble should not feel obliged to respond to the letter.
