This letter was formerly accessioned MA 3944.
The letter is undated, however the reference to Bradford likely puts the year of writing as 1859.
The letter refers to "Bradford" on the 10th and 11th of October. The reference is to a meeting of the National Association for the Promotion of Social Science held at Bradford starting Monday, October 10, 1859 and continuing for the following five days. Lord Brougham addressed that meeting.

Saying he will try his "utmost to obey your summons for the 17th Oct. being as much disposed to obedience as if I were a curate & more than if I were a rector or vicar - But until Bradford I cannot quite be certain. That is 10th Oct & 11th; apologizing if he is being inconvenienced by the uncertainty.
