Summary
Concerning a possible nomination to the Laureateship; saying "I have shown Mama the touching verses you enclosed & which she admired very much. She will bear in mind the name of the author but of course as you know any eventual nomination to the Laureateship would have to be on the recommendation of the Ministers. I can't tell you how anxious I am to see you & to have a look at the work you are doing which I have heard is so lovely. I shall not fail to let you know any time I may be coming up to town. All my little people are well, I am thankful to say, but we have had a sad autumn, by the very unexpected death of my dear mother-in-law, whom I was very fond of & whose loss is a very great one to her family. My poor husband has lost father, brother & mother, all in 6 years! Hoping to see you before long."
