Summary
Concerning a serious misunderstanding between George Colman and Thomas Becket over the rights to print Colman's plays and asking for Garrick's aid; saying he has no other friend that he can turn to with the "...disagreeable & unhappy situation with Mr. Colman, who has, in the strangest manner, turned himself from me, & seemingly withdrawn that friendship & good will towards me, which I once flattered myself to be possessed of;" explaining, at length and in detail, the circumstances of his agreement with Colman to purchase the rights to publish his plays, his other purchases which led to his inability to pay Mr. Colman, Mr. Colman's feeling threatened by Becket and Becket's attempts to clarify the situation to Mr. Colman; asking for his help "... to acquit me of the charge Mr. C. has brought ag't me...thus I stand an innocent Man respecting Mr. C. - having never hurt him either in thought, word or deed - & yet I am treated by him as having done him the greatest injury - This I cannot bear without venting my feelings to my friends."
