Summary
Concerning [William Branch] Giles' "resolutions which I mentioned in my last did not pass, neither of them had a larger vote than 15, but it will not be without good effect in checking that large and dangerous discretion under our loan and appropriation acts which the statements disclosed. It is probable to me the man [Alexander Hamilton] will not be so bold in his projects since he finds the trouble which attends them, and will suffer the constitution-makers and law-makers to do their work while he minds his;" sending him his "volume of the Encyclopedia" and discussing payment for it and subsequent volumes; sending his regards to Mrs. Milledge.
