Summary
Deploring the "late outrage upon decency that has taken place in the College" [Princeton]; writing that he thinks the College should "abolish the obligations the students enter into not to inform of each other"; arguing that "young men educated under the habitual influence of such an obligation ... cannot fail of losing all moral sensibility, and of carrying into the world with them principles and habits better calculated to make them accomplished members of a confederacy of highwaymen or swindlers than citizens of a civil & religious community"; bemoaning "how extensive has been the influence of [William] Godwin's works in the United States! We see them in every new folly and vice that rises among us."
