Summary
A collection of letters related to the Queen's travelling arrangements in Europe. The collection includes letters from Sir Henry William John Byng; Dominic E. Colnaghi; Margaret Lindsey, Countess of Crawford; Sir Fleetwood Isham Edwards; Ernest Gambart; Sir Henry Frederick Ponsonby; Frederick Ponsonby; Sir James Reid; Arthur John Bigge, Baron Stamfordham; various servants of Queen Victoria's household; and others. Collection also includes various customs documents; a manuscript menu for an 1897 dinner for Queen Victoria; a list of paintings in Queen Victoria's rooms during a visit to France; and two cabinet cards of Abdul Karim, Queen Victoria's Indian secretary, featuring photographs of Karim by Gustav Mullins and W. Watson. The majority of the letters are to E. Dosse, director of Her Majesty's continental journeys. Items in the collection are described in 55 individual records.
