Following the closure of the letter, Richardson copied out the following poems by Edward Young: Sonnet (first line: "My gracious God, whose kind conducting hand"); To his Nephew, on his Entrance into Holy Orders (first line: "Harvy, dear Kinsman, who in prime of youth"); To another Nephew, who was to go abroad as a Merchant (first line: "Nephew, who soon design'st to pass the Sea"); Advice to his Nephew on ye Choice of a Wife (first line: ""With previous hit prudence choose a Wife"--Be thy first care").
