Notes
Wood was the treasurer of the Covent Garden Theatre, which had just opened on December 7, 1732. (Some sources place the date of opening as the 6th or the 9th; the entry for Rich in Oxford Dictionary of National Biography lists the 7th.)
No place of writing is given, but because this note does not appear to have been mailed, it was probably both written and conveyed to Wood in London.
There is a line at the bottom of the page in an unknown hand, reading "Given me by Mr. [illegible] 29 July 1824."
Summary
Asking him to let two ladies into the front boxes for a performance of The Orphan (possibly Thomas Otway's play of that name).
