Summary
Regarding the terms of his engagement in London for the summer season and the arrangements with his managers in Bath; saying that if someone can be found to take his place in Bath, the managers appear to be willing to agree to his absence; writing further "I am desirous to be with you, & the terms you have offer'd are liberal -- they may be as good as you have ever given to any performer from the Winter Theatres; & when I object to them I don't do it from a belief that I am a better actor; but I calculate upon circumstances. I have ever consider'd if a mop stick drew money to an exhibition, the mop stick ought to demand in proportion to its attraction -- some years since you gave me a clear benefit & 20 [£?] for my eight weeks performance. I am now to come to you for 16 weeks, with more experience, & more fame, & whether I turn out a mop stick or a more valuable support, I must according to every probable expectation do you considerable service"; discussing the schedule ("You shall have my services from the 15th of May to the 15th of Sepr") and when he is likely to have a definite response for Colman; asking in a postscript if Colman knows of anyone who could be his substitute.
