William Elliston's sister, Martha, married Thomas Martyn in 1773. Martyn was a Professor of Botany at Cambridge University.
William Elliston was the Master of Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge University. He was the uncle of R. W. Elliston.
The Morgan also holds a letter written by R. W. Elliston to William Elliston on July 6, 1796 (MA 9513.7).
Removed from an extra-illustrated volume from the series Dramatic Memoirs (PML 9505-9528).

Writing at the request of her husband to let him know they have arrived in Bath "...both a little fatigued with the Journey - I fear lest Mr. E. should suffer more from being obliged to play at Bristol this evening - he unites with me in every Dutiful sentiment to you & Mr. and Mrs. Martyn - believe my Dear Sir with much gratitude to remain your affectionate Neice [sic]."
