Summary
Describing the autograph manuscripts of Southey's Poems (MA 414) and his Life of Cowper (MA 412); saying "With reference to the two volumes in the autograph of Robert Southey, the Poet Laureate I beg leave to say that I had them direct from the original possessors - the Poems from the family of the late Mr. Cottle in whose possession they had been since he printed them and the Life of Cowper from Southeys own family. I am very well acquainted with Southeys handwriting myself and I guarantee both of these volumes and the letter to be in his autograph."
