Provenance
The letters formed part of the Burdett-Coutts sale (Sotheby, 17 May 1922); they were purchased for Oliver W. Barrett in whose collection they remained until it was sold by his son (Parke-Bernet, 31 October 1951).
Summary
Sending his "warmest thanks" to Miss Coutts and providing information on young women who need assistance; saying the "...name of the four ladies is Goodluck. Their father was a great stock broker thirty years ago;" giving their address and referring to their troubles; correcting an error in made in his letter to The Times saying "...one of their little books is dedicated not to you, but to your children. Miss Coutts would delight in their three little books of short poems. one is out of print - They can furnish the others however."
