Summary
Saying "I have been instructed by the President - (Mr. C. Martin Hardie R.S.A.) - and Council of the Edinburgh Burns Club - which is the oldest established Burns Club in Edinburgh - to write and ask you whether you will be good enough at the Anniversary Dinner of the Club in Edinburgh on 25th January 1900 to propose the toast of the evening, 'The Memory of Burns." I am asked to say that it will give the Members of the Club much satisfaction if you can see your way to propose the toast. I shall be obliged if you will let me have an early reply, which I trust will be a favourable one."
