Summary
Reporting on the "impossibility of horse guarding the extensive coast committed to my charge and at the same time, the temptation there was for riders (?) to desert with their horses, as the people at the other side, were constantly calling upon them, offering fifty guineas to each who woud bring over their horses with them, indeed an instance too evident happened last night, two having gone off, the General in consequence of my representations to him desires that I may apply to you for 150 men which you will send me, if it is not weakening your own guards too much - if you cannot spare 150 send me 100 and the Sooner you do it the more you will oblige."
